{"id":222531,"date":"2017-10-02T13:53:09","date_gmt":"2017-10-02T17:53:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/carolinarainbownews.org\/?p=222531"},"modified":"2017-10-02T13:53:09","modified_gmt":"2017-10-02T17:53:09","slug":"breaking-mississippis-hb1523-nations-most-sweeping-anti-lgbtq-law-set-to-go-into-effect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carolinarainbownews.org\/?p=222531","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: Mississippi\u2019s HB1523, Nation\u2019s Most Sweeping Anti-LGBTQ Law, Set to Go into Effect"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>The Fifth Court of Appeals has denied\u00a0<em>Campaign for Southern Equality&#8217;s\u00a0<\/em>request for a rehearing\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<hr \/>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<strong>HB1523, the nation\u2019s most sweeping anti-LGBTQ law, will now go into effect across Mississippi on\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1120793576\"><span class=\"aQJ\">October 6, 2017<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>HB1523 authorizes Mississippi officials and service providers, such as doctors and store owners, to refuse services to LGBTQ individuals on the basis of three specific, anti-LGBTQ religious beliefs related to marriage, gender identity and sex outside of marriage.<\/p>\n<p>This reckless law\u00a0discriminates against and targets\u00a0the LGBTQ community.
